Left hand.
My left hand isn’t the enemy of my right hand. Sometimes one hand is better suited for a particular job.
INDEPENDENT THINKING. COMMON GROUND.
Left hand. Right hand. One body.
We’ve gotten too comfortable dividing everything into two sides. This podcast starts with a different question—and an invitation to think for yourself.
LOVE IT OR HATE IT! THIS IS WHO I AM. WITH PAUL LOPEZ

01 / WHY THIS PODCAST EXISTS
“I started this podcast because I believe we’ve gotten way too comfortable dividing everything into two sides.”
Left versus right. Democrat versus Republican. Conservative versus liberal. Somewhere along the way, disagreeing with somebody politically started becoming a reason to dislike them personally.
I think we’re going in the wrong direction. And I look at it a little differently.
I’ve worked with my hands most of my life, and I’ve learned something pretty simple: When I want to accomplish something, I use both hands.
A SIMPLE IDEA, LEARNED THROUGH WORK
My left hand isn’t the enemy of my right hand. Sometimes one hand is better suited for a particular job.
My right hand doesn’t have to defeat my left hand before I can get something done. Sometimes the other hand is better suited.
Sometimes I absolutely need both. They approach things from different directions, but they’re most useful when they’re working together.
“I think America could learn something from that.” — PAUL LOPEZ
02 / THE QUESTION THAT MATTERS
This podcast won’t automatically choose the left answer or the right answer. I want to ask a much simpler question: What actually works?
If an idea from the left makes sense,
let’s examine it.
If an idea from the right makes sense,
let’s examine that too.
And if they’re both wrong?
Let’s have the courage to say so.
03 / ON THE TABLE
We’re going to talk about the problems facing this country—and the people living with them.
04 / AN INVITATION, NOT A SCRIPT
Sometimes you’ll agree with me. Sometimes you’re probably going to think I’m completely wrong. That’s okay.
01Look at the evidence.
02Challenge assumptions—including mine.
03Listen to arguments you don’t agree with.
04Ask questions. Make up your own mind.
I started this podcast because I believe we've gotten way too comfortable dividing everything into two sides. Left versus right. Democrat versus Republican. Conservative versus liberal. And somewhere along the way, disagreeing with somebody politically started becoming a reason to dislike them personally.
I think we're going in the wrong direction. And I look at it a little differently.
I've worked with my hands most of my life, and I've learned something pretty simple: When I want to accomplish something, I use both hands.
Think about that for a second. My left hand isn't the enemy of my right hand. My right hand doesn't have to defeat my left hand before I can get something done. Sometimes one hand is better suited for a particular job. Sometimes the other one is. Sometimes I absolutely need both.
They have different strengths. They approach things from different directions. But they're attached to the same body. And they're most useful when they're working together. I think America could learn something from that.
This podcast isn't going to automatically choose the left answer. And it isn't going to automatically choose the right answer. I want to ask a much simpler question: What actually works?
If an idea from the left makes sense, let's examine it. If an idea from the right makes sense, let's examine that too. And if they're both wrong? We ought to have enough courage to say they're both wrong.
We're going to talk about politics, the Constitution, history, government, science, working Americans and the problems facing this country.
Sometimes you'll agree with me. Sometimes you're probably going to think I'm completely wrong. That's okay. Because disagreement doesn't have to make us enemies.
I'm not here to tell you what to think. I'm asking you to think. Look at the evidence. Challenge assumptions—including mine. Listen to arguments you don't agree with. Ask questions. And then make up your own mind.
That's what this podcast is about. Left hand. Right hand. One body. Maybe America doesn't need one side to destroy the other. Maybe we need to learn how to use both hands again.
